FAQ

What Is E-Liquid?

An e-liquid often referred to as eliquid, ejuice or e-liquid, is a combination of Propylene Glycol (PG), Vegetable Glycerine (VG), flavourings and Nicotine. When heated, this combination creates vapour which you inhale and aims to replicate the sense and effects of smoking a cigarette, without all the extra, harmful chemicals associated with them.

To read more about VG & PG, check out our handy guide: VG and PG: A Beginner’s Guide which explains everything you need to know about these e-liquid ingredients.

E-Liquids are a core component of e-cigarettes and are one of the most enjoyable aspects of vaping. The reason why this is an enjoyable part of vaping is mostly due to the vast amounts of flavours available, rather than the typical tobacco flavour you experience with traditional cigarettes.

Is Vaping E-Liquid Better Than Smoking?

The world of vaping has gone through some rough patches, with accusations of vaping being harmful to people’s health and not a suitable nicotine replacement therapy. However, in the UK, Public Health England has researched vaping and are undertaking yearly reviews of their policies around vaping and e-cigarettes up until 2022. You can read more about their annual e-cigarette evidence reviews here.

As of 2015, Public Health England has stated that vaping is around 95% safer than smoking tobacco and they can help smokers quit, leading us to believe that vaping is one of the most effective ways to quit smoking. This option may not be for everyone, and you may find other nicotine replacement therapies work better for you, but as vapers ourselves, it has helped us quit cigarettes for good.

What Flavour E-Liquid Is Best for Me?

The beautiful thing about vaping is that there are a wide variety of flavours available, meaning you can find a flavour that is perfect for you. Do you like fruit flavours or creamy dessert blends or would you like the familiar taste of tobacco with an added extra, such as caramel?

At Gourmet E-Liquid, we stock one of the UK’s most extensive range of e liquids, with over 2,000 different flavours of e liquid and our inventory is growing weekly.

We sell bottles as small as 10ml, which often come premixed with nicotine and bottles as large as 200ml, which, due to the Tobacco Products Directive (TPD) come nicotine-free, meaning you must add nicotine. These bottles that are larger than 10ml in size are known as Shortifll E-Liquids and require you to add nicotine.

What Type of E-Liquid Is the Best for Me?

As the industry has grown and new vaping hardware enters the market, there are many different types of e liquid available on the market. Not all eliquid is suitable for all devices, and there are some considerations you should make before buying to ensure you get the most effective product.

The main types of e liquids we offer are:

  • High VG E-Liquid: This type of e-liquid, often known as sub-ohm e liquid, features a VG ratio of 60% or above and have a thicker consistency and produce more significant clouds due to the higher VG content. High VG ejuices should only be used with coils that have a resistance lower than 1.0 Ohm for best results.
  • High PG E-Liquid: These e liquids typically have a higher PG ratio of 50% or above. These liquids are thinner and carry flavour well. These types of e liquids are better for use with lower wattage devices, and pod systems as these devices often use coils above 1.0 Ohm.
  • 50/50 E-Liquids: These balanced blends feature a ratio of 50% VG and 50% PG and are suitable for use in most starter kits. These e liquids carry flavour well and produce excellent levels of vapour.
  • Nicotine Salts: These are a relatively new type of e liquid, utilising nicotine salts instead of traditional freebase nicotine that you would find in many vaping products. By using nicotine salts, you will experience a smoother throat hit and feature a higher nicotine strength, with the highest allowed due to TPD law being 20mg. We suggest for new vapers because of their quick nicotine hit and similarity to smoking cigarettes. It would be best if you only used these e liquids in low wattage devices and refillable pod systems.
  • Shortfill E-Liquid: These e liquids come in a nicotine free form and are sold in bottle sizes of 50ml, 100ml or 200ml. They are called shortfill because the bottles are filled to 80% capacity, leaving enough space for you to add nicotine.
