The best disposable vape for quitting smoking
Single-use vapes work straight out of the box — you don’t need to charge, fill or mix anything. This makes disposables the perfect starting point for cigarette quitters who don’t know how to vape yet.
If you’re at the start of your quit-smoking journey, there are a few things to bear in mind when you’re shopping around for a disposable vape.
- First off, if you’re planning to quit, book in with your local NHS stop smoking service. You stand a much better chance of successfully quitting with the support of a trained smoking cessation counsellor (source: NHS.uk). The NHS Stop Smoking Service is free, so you have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
- Second, if you’re using disposable vapes to quit smoking, you need a vape with nicotine. Vaping mimics some of the actions of smoking, but it’s the nicotine in the e-cigarette vapour that sates your cravings. Most disposables contain either 10mg or 20mg of nicotine, but some brands sell a 0mg option. Take care when making your purchase and get something appropriate to your needs. - Third, pick a tobacco-flavoured disposable. Starting out with the familiar flavour of tobacco means that you have one less thing to get used to as you try to break your cigarette habit.

The longest-lasting disposable
By law, disposable vapes containing nicotine can’t contain more than 2ml of e-liquid. This limits the capacity of most disposable vapes to around 600 puffs. You might occasionally see a disposable vape that promises more than 600 puffs — this might be for one of two reasons:
- The vape has no nicotine. The 2ml law only applies to disposable vapes with nicotine. If a disposable vape has no nicotine in it, then it can hold more e-liquid in its tank. This is how the Elux Legend 3500 Disposable Vape can claim to offer 3,500 puffs per device. If you’re trying to quit smoking, this kind of disposable vape is not what you need. You need to pick a 600-puff (2ml) option that can help you manage your cravings.
- The vape has interchangeable pods. The IVG 2400 Disposable Vape can offer 2,400 puffs of nicotine-infused vapour without breaking the law. This is because its 2ml e-liquid reservoir can be replaced with a fresh 2ml pod when it runs out, and you get 4 e-liquid pods in the box. The IVG 2400 is very similar to a pod kit, but it’s still classed a single-use vape, because the pre-charged battery is designed to run out after all 4 pods have been spent. One very important thing to mention here: if a shopkeeper tries to sell you a disposable vape that promises more than 600 puffs, with nicotine, from a single device (no swap-out pods), then you should report that shop to trading standards. Disposable vapes that hold more than 2ml of nicotine-infused e-liquid in a single device are illegal in the UK. Illegal disposables have not been sufficiently tested for public consumption, and anyone who sells them is risking the health and safety of their customers.
The most environmentally-friendly disposable
First off, it’s important to understand that disposable vapes are not environmentally-friendly. Disposables contain rare metals and hard-to-recycle plastics and they have a very short lifespan compared to standard vaping equipment. There’s no such thing as a biodegradable disposable vape, and no single-use vape is fully recyclable.
If you’re concerned about sustainability, then you should invest in a refillable, rechargeable vaping system as soon as you possibly can. There is still some waste with the long-term vape kits (wicks and coils need replacing, batteries will wear out and so on), but overall it's much better for the environment than disposables. To reduce your impact on the planet when vaping disposables, you can:
- Drop spent disposables in a vape bin. The best thing to do with any brand of disposable vape is to drop it in a vape bin so that it can be disposed of responsibly. There are vape bins all over the country and it just takes a few seconds to find the one closest to you. - Pick a disposable that is easy to recycle. The Innokin Lota Enviro Disposable Vape is available in 10 different flavours and can be taken apart for responsible disposal at home. The cardboard casing can go in your paper bin and some local authorities let you recycle the silicone seals. You still have to drop the battery off at a battery disposal point and the e-liquid reservoir needs to go in your normal bin.
- Pick a rechargeable disposable. The Aspire R1 Rechargeable Disposable Vape has a refillable 2ml capacity tank that can be refilled up to 8 times before you have to dispose of the whole device. Just like the IVG 2400, the Aspire R1 is technically a disposable because it has a limited lifespan, but in every other respect it’s a pod system. If you’ve reached the stage in your vaping journey where you’re ready to recharge and refill, you might be better off just investing in a full vape kit.
