    What is a Vape Tank?

Vape Tanks are an important element of your vaping setup. Tanks hold some of the more important elements, such as the coil and the e-liquid itself. The coil heats up the e-liquid to produce the flavour-laden vapour. If you purchase a starter kit, you will receive a vape tank that is tailored for use with that device.

For the coil to heat up the liquid in the tank itself, it needs to be in connection with the battery. At the bottom of a tank, there is a connector, which is known as a 510 connector. This is a threaded connector with a contact point at the bottom and when screwed into your mod or battery, the connector and fired, the charge from the battery flows through to the coil, heating it up and vaporizing the e-liquid.

These 510 connectors are often uniform across most vape devices, meaning you can swap, and use vape tanks with different box mods and vape devices if they have a suitable wattage pairing.

How Does a Vape Tank work?

Inside your vape tank you will find a coil. This coil is an integral part of how a vape tank functions in the way that it does. With pre-built coil heads, which is what most vapers use, there is a coil that is surrounded by cotton and then a metal shell.

With a coil installed, you can fill your vape tank with e-liquid. Most vape tanks come with a convenient top-fill design, making it easy to replace your favourite flavours.

The cotton surrounding the coil or mesh inside absorbs the e-liquid. When the firing button on your battery is pressed, it sends a charge through to the coil, which starts to get hot, vaporizing the e-liquid in the cotton. This is what you inhale to get the vapour, flavour, and nicotine from your atomiser.

What is the difference between Mouth to Lung and Sub Ohm Tanks?

Mouth to Lung tanks and Sub ohm tanks differ greatly, not only in the way that they operate and the setup of the device, but in the actual use of the device as well.

A mouth to lung tank aims to replicate how many people smoke. Vapour is first drawn into the mouth and then inhaled into the lungs. Therefore, this style of vaping, through pod kits and lower wattage vape devices is recommended to beginners, because it feels like what they’re used to and is an accurate emulation of smoking.

This type of tank generally produces less vapour and offer a more discreet vape, but they make it easier to transition vaping.

Sub ohm tanks offer a vaping style that is known as direct to lung. Instead of firstly drawing vapour into your mouth and then inhaling into the lungs, you inhale the vapour straight into your lungs. This is also called sub ohm because tanks use coils that have a resistance of less than 1 ohm.

This style of tank typically produces larger volumes of vapour.

    What is a Rebuildable Tank?

Rebuildable tanks are only ever recommended for advanced vapers. To use these, you must have a good understanding of Ohms Law and battery safety.

Coming in a variety of types, such as RDA’s (Rebuildable Dripping Atomiser), RTA’s (Rebuildable Tank Atomiser) and RDTA’s (Rebuildable Dripping Tank Atomiser), these tanks offer the ultimate in customisation, allowing you to build your own coils and cotton wicks from scratch, tailoring every element to your own individual needs.

Because of the customisation element, flavour and vapour production are often intense and yield excellent results once properly dialled in.
