What Are Shortfill E-Liquds?
Shortfill E-Liquids are bottles of e-liquid that are underfilled and contain no nicotine. This extra space in the bottle allows of the addition of nicotine. This style of e-liquid was introduced because it gave users a cheaper alternative to buying multiple 10ml bottles of e-liquid, which became costly.
Due to the TPD (Tobacco Products Directive) law, which prohibits the sale of e-liquid containing nicotine in volumes larger than 10ml, shortiflls were introduced to get around this law, offering customers larger volumes of e-liquid that were free of nicotine. By filling the bottle to 80%, the nicotine can then be sold separately in a TPD compliant 10ml bottle and can be simply added to create a nicotine-containing e-liquid at your desired strength.
Shortfills come in a range of sizes and VG ratios, with the most popular size being 50ml and the most popular VG ratio being 70%. We recommend this type of e-liquid for sub-ohm vapers only; however, we are expanding our range to include more e-liquids that are suited to lower wattage and pod kits.
How Do I Add Nicotine to my Shortfill E-Liquid?
Take your bottle of e-liquid, unscrew the cap and pop-off the cap with the pipette off the bottle. Some bottle caps can be tricky to remove, and we stock handy bottle cap removers to make this easier.
Once the cap has been removed, take your nicotine shot and pour the desired amount into the bottle. If you’re unsure as to how much nicotine you need to add, we have a guide which can help you calculate your nicotine strength.
Place the cap securely back on the bottle with the screw cap and shake vigorously for a few moments. You want to ensure that the nicotine is thoroughly mixed with the flavour to get best results.
Once shaken, let the liquid settle and once the bubbles have subsided you can fill up your vape tank and start vaping!
