Why Is Vape Juice Sold in 10ml Bottles?

UK law limits e-liquid containing nicotine to bottles of up to 10ml, at a maximum strength of 20mg/ml. That's why every nicotine e-liquid comes in a 10ml bottle, while larger bottles are sold as nicotine-free shortfills. Our guide to TPD and TRPR explains the rules.

Nic Salts or Freebase?

Most 10ml e-liquids here are nic salts, usually at 10mg or 20mg. They give a smooth throat hit even at higher strengths and suit pod kits and MTL devices. Freebase 10ml e-liquids, typically 3mg to 18mg, give a more traditional throat hit. Most 10ml e-liquids are blended at 50/50 for pod kits and MTL tanks. A few higher-VG 10ml e-liquids suit low-power sub ohm vaping at low strengths.

Choosing a Strength

Your strength depends on how much you smoked or vaped before, and on your device. Nic salts at 10mg or 20mg suit compact pod kits. Lower freebase strengths suit larger devices that produce more vapour. If you're unsure, read what strength vape liquid should I choose? Popular ranges include ELFLIQ, Pod Salt and Hangsen.

Why can I only buy nicotine e-liquid in 10ml bottles?

UK regulations limit e-liquid containing nicotine to bottles of up to 10ml and a maximum strength of 20mg/ml. Larger bottles are only available nicotine-free, as shortfills.

What's the difference between nic salts and freebase 10ml e-liquid?

Nic salts give a smoother throat hit at higher strengths and suit pod kits. Freebase e-liquid gives a more traditional throat hit and is usually sold at lower strengths for a wider range of devices.

How long does a 10ml bottle of vape juice last?

It depends on your device and how often you vape. In a compact pod kit, a 10ml bottle typically lasts considerably longer than it would in a sub ohm kit.

Can I use 10ml e-liquid in a sub ohm kit?

Most 10ml e-liquids are 50/50 and designed for pod kits and MTL devices. For sub ohm vaping, a high-VG shortfill with a nic shot is usually the better choice.
