Shortfill E-Liquids are a popular, bulk option of purchasing e-liquid. This type of e-liquid became popular after the introduction of the TPD (Tobacco Products Directive), which limits the sale of e-liquid that contains nicotine to a volume of 10ml. As a workaround, Shortfills came to prominence, as they contain zero nicotine, allowing large amounts of nicotine free e-liquid to be sold.

The name Shortfill comes from the bottle being filled to 80% of its total capacity, which allows for the addition of nicotine shots. You’ll find a wide range of shortfill sizes available, starting with 50ml and going as high as 500ml bottles. Most shortfill e-liquids are available in a 70VG:30PG ratio, making them excellent for sub-ohm vaping, however more and more shortfills are becoming available in 50VG:50PG ratios, making them suitable for pod kits and lower wattage devices too.

Firstly, you need to know how strong you wish your desired e-liquid to be. If you already know this, then you can simply remove the cap from the e-liquid bottle, pour the nicotine shot into the bottle, replace the cap and shake.

How Do I Know How Much Nicotine I Need?

The most common nicotine strength that is used is 3mg, this means a single 10ml nicotine shot, with an 18mg nicotine strength is added to a 50ml shortfill e-liquid. When the nicotine is diluted with a large volume of e-liquid, you get a lower overall nicotine strength. What Is The Best Vape Kit to Use With Shortfill E-Liquids?

Most shortfill e-liquids feature a high VG content, which makes them more suitable for use with sub-ohm devices. Due to the high VG content, the thickness of the liquid means they're too harsh to be used on kits that offer a mouth-to-lung vaping style.

However, there has recently been a rise in shortfills that features a higher PG content, making them more suitable to this kit type, so anything with a VG ratio of 50% or less is suitable for these devices.
