How to choose a vape battery charger

A dedicated charger is the safest way to top up external batteries - far better than charging them inside your mod. When choosing one, three things matter:

  • Number of bays - Single-bay chargers are compact and cheap; dual and four-bay chargers (and six-bay units like the Efest LUC V6) let you charge a full set at once. If you run married pairs in a dual-battery mod, charge them together on a multi-bay charger.
  • Charge current - Higher-output chargers (1A–2A per bay) refill faster, but a gentler 0.5A charge is kinder to battery life. Many Nitecore and Efest chargers let you select the current per bay.
  • Display & compatibility - A screen (Efest LUC BLU6, Nitecore UM4) shows voltage and charge status. Universal chargers handle 18650, 20700, 21700 and many other Li-ion sizes.

Battery safety basics

Use a charger designed for Li-ion/IMR cells, never leave batteries charging unattended overnight, and stop using any battery with a torn or damaged wrap. Carry spare cells in a battery case, never loose in a pocket, and replace cells in married pairs together. For more on capacity and amp ratings, see our vape batteries range.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use any charger for my vape batteries?

No — use a charger designed for rechargeable Li-ion/IMR cells like 18650, 20700 and 21700. A proper vape battery charger manages voltage and cut-off safely, unlike generic chargers.

Is it better to charge batteries in a charger or in my mod?

An external charger is generally safer and gentler on your cells, and lets you charge spares while you vape. It's the recommended option for any external-battery mod.

How long does it take to charge an 18650?

Roughly 2–4 hours depending on the charge current and how depleted the cell is. A 0.5A charge is slower but kinder to battery life; 1A–2A is faster.

Do these chargers work with 21700 and 20700 batteries?

Yes — the universal chargers in this range handle 18650, 20700 and 21700 cells (and many other Li-ion sizes) in the same bays.
